The Orphan Experience is a multi-sensory, interactive art exhibit that draws the viewer into the story of orphans around the world. The purpose of the Experience is to rescue girls from, and prevent girls from entering, the commercial sex trade. It is a dynamic multi-media experience that uses a 5 minute video to tell the stories of four orphan girls in Russia and their experience with sex trafficking. These are the real girls sharing their testimonies. Additionally, the experience uses photos, captions, statistics, art, and live “artifacts” that we have recovered from Russia. These artifacts–a towel from a sauna where girls are trafficked, the grave marker of a girl who died–are authentic, and bring the Experience to a very personal and tactile level.
